The technology fild of aptamers development shows growth due to versatility of these conformational nucleic acid molecules. Nucleic acid aptamers are oligonucleotides that interact with organic or inorganic target molecules and are used in biotechnological researches. The understanding of the selection, basic and functional characteristics is fundamental to develop new materials based on these potential ligands for use in biotechnological research and industry. The present work approaches the oligonucleotide aptamers technology in their theoretical and practical aspects. Approaches for combinatorial chemistry will be followed by the description of possible applications, and fially with conformational prediction of molecules to evaluation as a potential aptamer to a target.
